A portion of the alloying charge, i.e. boron carbide is added to the surface of the melt, (e.g. Fe-, or Ni base alloy) which is in the zone of max. magnetic field concentration in order to obtain vigorous mixing. The remainder of the alloying charge is added after the boron carbide has been completely absorbed by the melt. This gives an alloy contg. B without contamination by Al.
|
