PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string tying apparatus for cutting a hinge of a plastic container for mounting a tear-off string on the hinge so that the hinge of a plastic container comprising a body integrated with a lid can be cut off. SOLUTION: The string tying apparatus for cutting a hinge of a plastic container includes a mechanism A for tying a thermally welded thin wire 1 on the hinge 12 of the plastic container 10 in a U-shape, a mechanism B for welding and closing an opening end (a) of the wire 1 put on the hinge 12 by the mechanism A, and a mechanism C for cutting the wire 1 before the welded portion. Thus, the thermally welded thin wire 1 can be continuously and automatically put over the hinge 12 of the plastic container 10.
