PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate a lining thickness of a covered concrete by analyzing an impact sound generated when a surface of the concrete is struck. SOLUTION: When the impact sound generated when the surface of the concrete is struck is collected, and when the collected sound is wavelet- transformed to prepare a scalogram, so as to evaluate thereby the thickness of the concrete, the Gabor function is used as a mother function in an wavelet transform expression, and a predominant part revealed generally in a range from 0.2-1.0 kHz, or a predominant part revealed generally in a range from 2.0-20.0 kHz is noticed in the obtained scalogram.
