Preconditioned, readily dispersible pigments are prepared by adding the salt or free resin amine, in an amount of 4-25% wt. (as free amine) to the pigment, before filtration of the latter. The resin amine may be added as a water soluble amine salt to the water-wet pigment, and the mixture basified to convert the salt to the free amine. The mixture is then filtered, washed, and dried. Alternatively, the amine may be used as an aqueous emulsion of a soln. of the free amine in an organic solvent, pref. during the drying of the pigment. The amine may also be added during pigment preparation. The resin amine is pref. dehydroabiethylamine, dehydroabiethylpropylenediamine, dehydroabiethyl-N-trimethylenediamineN'-propylamine, or a polyoxyethylated derivative. |
