PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend application of an optical disk recording medium like recording CD media, large capacity recording DVD medium, etc., which are widely used in the world. SOLUTION: User data to be recorded on the recordable optical disk 1 are converted to recording pit data of a data format different from a data format of this optical disk 1 by an encoder part 25, and the converted recording pit data are written and recorded in the manner of irradiating the optical disk 1 with laser beams, by a light pickup (PU) part 3, an LD control part 4, a PU driving part IQ, a servo part 18 and a signal processing part 27 in accordance with the control of a system controller part 20.
