PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an open-cell foam by which closed cells of a closed-cell foam can be changed into open cells to produce the open- cell foam. SOLUTION: This method for producing the open-cell foam comprises continuously feeding the closed-cell foam F to a space between a pair of rotating rolls 1 and 2 in which the surface of at least one of rotating rolls 1 and 2 is implanted with a plurality of needlelike materials 11 under heating of the needle-like materials 11, thrusting the needle-like materials 11 on the surface of the rotating roll 1 into the closed-cell foam F, making the closed cells of the closed-cell foam F mutually communicate, converting the closed cells into open cells, thereby thrusting the heated needle-like materials 11 of the rotating roll into the closed-cell foam, melting the closed-cell foam film without causing unevennesses or wrinkles on the surface of the foam F, making mutual adjacent closed cells of the closed-cell foam F surely mutually communicate and enabling the closed cells to smoothly change into the open cells.
