PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a uniform coating film and make double-sided coating films even while preventing damages on the coated face and suppressing occurrence of uneven coating in relation to a coating apparatus for applying a coating liquid to the web surface of such as paper, a resin film or the like and a production method of coated paper. SOLUTION: Two applicator rolls 2, 2 forming a nip part 20 while being pushed against each other and when coating liquid films on these two applicator rolls 2, 2 are transferred and applied to the surface of the web 1 passing through the nip part 20, the web 1 is transported in a manner that the web 1 after passing through the nip part 20 is held on the surface of one of the applicator roll 2 by an air floating type mini turn bar 4 formed in the downstream side of the nip part 20.
