PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for absorbing a falling stone capable of reducing change of distance between a lower fringe of a facial absorbing body 1 and the ground surface and catching following falling stones accurately to absorb energy even if stones fall. SOLUTION: This device for absorbing the falling stone consists of the facial absorbing body for absorbing a shock of falling tones, a guide support column 2 provided with a guide hole opened by passing through in the crossing direction of a central axis in the vicinity of an upper end and a lower end of a long member, and a slide wire 3 fixed to the ground through a braking device 5 sliding one end with a fixed tensile force. The energy of falling that the facial absorbing body receives is absorbed by slide of the slide wire 3.
