PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation method for a cyclic-structure-containing polymer whereby a high hydrogenation degree almost equal to that attained by using a conventional fluidized catalyst can be maintained, the removal of a catalyst used is not necessary, the amount of a side reaction product is small, and a hydrogenated polymer having good mechanical strengths, heat resistance, processibility, and clarity can be obtained. SOLUTION: A cyclic-structure-containing polymer having a wt. average mol.wt. (in terms of polystyrene, by gel permeation chromatography) of 10,000-1,000,000 is hydrogenated by causing a solution containing the polymer and hydrogen to pass at a linear velocity of 0.01-1.5 cm/sec through a fixed bed packed with a hydrogenation catalyst.
