<p>Spent cleaning lyes (used for cleaning ingot surfaces) contg. alkali metal silicates and various other metal ions can be advantageously utilised in de-icing compsn. (esp. for roads) as corrosion inhibitors. They are used in an amt. of 5-15 pts. wt. per 80-99.9 pts. wt. of chloride(s); this mixture contains 1-10 pts. wt. of phosphates, zinc ions and oxidising agents, pref. permanganate, chlorate, nitrite and/or chromate ions.</p> |
