PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the shape of ring-wound coils for the uniformization of characteristics and make available the same fixing structure as that of drum- wound coils. SOLUTION: A stator is placed concentrically with the rotor of a rotary machine around the rotor with an air gap in-between, and ring-wound coils are wound, so that the inner circumferential surface and the outer circumferential surface of the substantially cylindrical core body thereof are enclosed by the ring-wound coils. A plurality of inner circumferential surface-side projections 12 and outer circumferential surface-side projections 13 are formed in the direction of the circumference of the core body 11, so that the inner circumferential surface-side projections and the corresponding outer circumferential surface-side projections are positioned on the same normal lines, as seen from the axial direction. Coils 14 are placed in slots 15, formed between the adjacent inner circumferential surface-side projections 12 and between the adjacent outer circumferential surface-side projections 13.
