PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acidic hair dye composition for hair of head good in dye-affinity and color duration, capable of easily dyeing the hair, giving no creaking feeling to the hair after dyeing the hair and excellent in a long term preservation stability. SOLUTION: This acidic hair dye composition contains a copolymer expressed by formula (1) (wherein R1 to R3 are the same or different and denote each H, a 1-20C hydrocarbon or an alkoxy; R4 expresses H ion, a monovalent metal ion or ammonium; (n) and (m) denote each >=10 integer).
