摘要 <p>A system for improved video encoding and decoding of scalable bitstreams, used for streaming encoded video signals. A video camera (102) produces an array of pixel representative signals that are coupled to an A-D converter (103) which is coupled to a processor (110) of encoder (105). The processor includes memories (123), clock and timing circuitry (121), I/O functions (118), and a monitor or display (125). An MPEG-4 encoding module (135) includes a DCT (131), and a VLC (133), which may all be implemented in harware or software. An encoded output signal (101) is produced which can be a compressed version of the input signal (90), and requires less bandwidth and/or less memory for strorage.
