PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a method for removing a foreign matter in the recorder capable of removing the foreign matter adhered and deposited on a recording medium conveyance means when the device is not used and recording operation is in a stand-by condition. SOLUTION: This recorder 100 is provided with an adhesive roller 50 rotating in a contact condition with a conveyance roller 25b which becomes the recording medium conveyance means by corresponding to turning on of power supply of the device or the recording start operation. Cleaning of the conveyance roller 25b by the adhesive roller 50 is performed by moving a recording medium conveyance system at a recording preparation step before recording operation.
