PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal discharges from occurring in the cells which are adjacent to a cell performing addressed discharges and sustaining discharges, and do no perform address discharges. SOLUTION: The abnormal discharges are prevented from occurring in non- selected cells by performing discharges to the cells which performed addressed discharges at a timing T1 during a discharge adjusting period, next performing discharges for adjusting wall charges to the cells in which the electric charges remain without performing addressed discharge at a timing T2, and forming some negative electric charges on X-electrodes and Y-electrodes.
