<p>A method and arrangement for connecting drill pipes (13, 14) in situ on board an offshore platform in order to form drill pipe stands having a double, triple etc. axial length, for use in drill string extension upon an increase in drilling depth, for the purpose of reducing the frequency of such drill string extension operations, which represent interruptions in the drilling.
