PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently grind and process a large number of plates. SOLUTION: An end surface of the plate P is ground by using an unused surface 1b of a grinding wheel 1 by moving the grinding wheel 1 in a direction of an axis of the grinding wheel at the time of judging that abrasion loss reaches specified quantity by a means to detect the abrasion loss of a grinding surface of this grinding wheel 1 by forming width (a) of the grinding surface of the grinding wheel 1 larger than width (b) of an end surface of the plate P under a plate end surface grinding method to grind the end surface of the plate P to be automatically supplied by the disc type grinding wheel 1 an outer peripheral surface of a rotating disc of which is the grinding surface.
