Process for controlling anti-skid devices on vehicle tires has controlling magnetic forces produced by magnets (2) attached outside the tire (1) for contact-free transfer of anti-skid elements (3) provided in the profile structure of the tire from a passive state into an active state and from an active state into a passive state. In the passive state the anti-skid elements are completely concealed in the tire profile structure and are therefore inactive. In the active state these elements protrude at least partly out of the tire profile structure and therefore into active contact with the road. An Independent claim is also included for a device used for carrying out the above process.
