PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorus-free detergent composition exhibiting strong detergency to a metal surface at a low temperature region. SOLUTION: This phosphorus-free detergent for a metal at a low temperature comprises (A) a surfactant composed of 0.25-25 wt.% of a dimethylalkyl ethoxyamine oxide and 0.25-25 wt.% of one or more of nonionic, anionic and amphoteric surfactants except the dimethylalkyl ethoxyamine oxide, (B) 25-98.5 wt.% of an inorganic builder composed of one or more of a caustic alkali, a carbonate, a silicate, etc., and (C) 1-50 wt.% of an organic builder composed of one or more of an oxycarbonate, an aminocarboxylate, etc.
