PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared burner simple and rugged in structure, and yet capable of bearing long-time use by improving a conventional infrared burner used for drying paper, cloth and the like, and for heating food, metal, wood and other various materials. SOLUTION: The infrared burner comprises a space serving as a cooling air chamber, which space is formed between a burner body and an outer casing by fixedly fitting the burner body having a mixed gas chamber mounted with a combustion plate at the front thereof into the outer casing larger in size than the burner body. The burner body and the outer casing comprise at the peripheral portions thereof outwardly overhanging flanges, the outer edge portions of which are respectively bent toward the rear sides thereof. The burner body is fixed to the outer casing by superimposing the outer edge portions thereof on each other to fasten them together and an air outlet for allowing air in the cooling air chamber to flow outside is provided at least in one of the flanges of the burner body and the outer casing or at a portion where they are superimposed on each other.
