PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing compressed lumber wherein low quality lumber is processed to high grade lumber of not less than Japanese cypress by maximizing the use of processing techniques such as heating, pressurizing and the like to raise the added value of the lumber. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing compressed lumber is composed of a process wherein lumber is covered by a heat resisting sheet, heated by using a heating means of high frequency, a microwave or steam and the like and the lumber quality is softened by plasticizing treatment; a process wherein the softened lumber is inserted into a mold, and regulated in a shape pressurizing with a compressing pressurizing device; a lumber quality-hardening process for making a lumber quality strong against a decay fungus and insect pest wherein the pressure-formed lumber is put into a high pressure steam can in such a state as fixed to the mold, treated by high pressure, and strength of the lumber material and beauty of grain of the wood are raised while lumber dimensions are fixed in a specific shape; and a cooling treatment process wherein the lumber of which the material is hardened is carried outside as fixed in the mold and cooled.
