Continuous height adjustment of the bed of glowing charcoal is provided by a hand-wheel. This turns a lead-screw advancing a piston in a hydraulic cylinder. A flexible tube connection, transfers hydraulic fluid displaced, into a cylinder raising the fuel bed container.
