A ceramic armour tile 1 in which one or more of the side faces 3, 4 are cut at an angle to the main faces 2 of the tile, the angle being substantially different from 90{. Preferably, the angle is between 30{ and 60{, more precisely 45{. The angled side faces are preferably disposed at opposite sides of the tile. The tile may be rectangular in plan having two of its side faces set at an angle of between 30{ and 60{ with respect to one principle face 2 of the tile and the other two side faces are set at an angle of 30{ and 60{ with respect to the other principle face of the tile. An armour configuration may comprise a plurality of these tiles arranged so that such side faces are proximate to each other so as to provide overlapping joints between adjacent tiles along those sides. |
