PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter capable of retaining the data related to gas use accumulated so far even in the shortage of the built-in battery of the gas meter. SOLUTION: This gas meter is equipped with an E2PROM 31 capable of retaining contents even if no power is supplied to the gas meter. The operation set 11, gas use quantity 13, and interruption and alarm hysteresis 15 on a RAM 10 are periodically backed up in the E2PROM 31. When the supply of power is stopped because of the shortage of the built-in battery, the data retained in the E2PROM 31 can be directly read from a data output terminal 35.
