PURPOSE: A fingerprint recognizing device and a method for recognizing and registering a fingerprint are provided to enable the authentication between a portable fingerprint input device and a fixed fingerprint authentication device to be perform in a wireless by making a part receiving a user fingerprint be a portable type and making a part authenticating the fingerprint be a fixing type. CONSTITUTION: The fingerprint recognizing device comprises a portable fingerprint input device(10) and a fixed fingerprint authentication device(100). The portable fingerprint input device transmits the characteristics of fingerprint to the fixed fingerprint authentication device through the wireless after scanning a user fingerprint and finding out the characteristics of fingerprint, and possesses at least one or more service key in order to compatibly operate with at least one or more the fixed fingerprint authentication device(110,120,..,n). The fixed fingerprint authentication device registers and deletes the characteristics of user fingerprint, authenticates the user by comparing with the registered fingerprint, and identifies the user by transmitting the results of registration, deletion and authentication through the wireless. The fixed fingerprint authentication device possesses at least one or more intrinsic key in order to compatibly operate with at least one or more the portable fingerprint input device(20,30,40,..,n).
