A borehole radar tool includes a housing (2) having transmitting and receiving antenna assemblies. The transmitting antenna and receiving antenna of the respective assemblies extend near the wall of the housing. The section of the reflector (10) located diametrically opposite to the respective transmitting and receiving antennas extends near the wall of the housing. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an algorithm for use in determining electromagnetic contrast information; (B) a method for determining electromagnetic contrast information of a site, an electromagnetic field or electromagnetic radiation; (C) a method for determining the weighing factor (W) applicable for a measuring device; (D) a measuring device for determining electromagnetic contrast information of a site; (E) a computer program for determining electromagnetic contrast information; (F) a method for performing a subsurface survey; (G) an apparatus for a subsurface survey.
