PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and a starting method therefor, by which a drive can be selected by a user interface easy to comprehend for a user. SOLUTION: When starting the information processor, the mode of a graphics controller 120 is set to a graphic mode and a device to be started is displayed with an icon. The user watches the icon, performs an entry from a keyboard 112 and selectively sets the device to be started. After such selection setting is received, a BIOS 106 sets the graphics controller 120 to a text mode and performs starting from a selectively set device to be started.
