PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly display an on-screen information picture on a liquid crystal display even when thinning processing is performed. SOLUTION: In this display method, thinning processing is applied to a picture to be displayed on a liquid crystal display and, as a result, the number of pixels of the picture is reduced. The original picture of the on-screen information picture is produced based on the number of pixels of the picture of an object to be obtained by photographing. A picture which is obtained by applying a low-pass filter processing to the original picture is written in a data ROM(read only memory) as the on-screen information picture. When a digital camera is operated, the on-screen information picture is displayed on the liquid crystal display by using the data of the data ROM.
