PURPOSE: A device and method for recovering data is provided to recover corrupted data caused by a software bug of a client personal computer at an on-line rapidly. CONSTITUTION: A client personal computer(10) capable of being connected to the Internet includes an input device as a keyboard, a mouse, and a general voice recognition software package, a display device as a video monitor, a voice output device as a speaker, and a processing device as a CPU. A database(12) stores identity information of a client who requested a data recovery. A bank server(14) manages money deposited in an account of a client, and manages a payment using a card, an automatic transfer, and an on-line payment with respect to a service fee between a client and a data recovery company when the client requests a data recovery. A remote service center(18) recovers a data corruption caused by a software bug generated in the client personal computer(10) in a remote place using a data recovery program. A web server(22) manages a data recovery web site and converts the data recovery program into a data file format capable of being downloaded by a client and performing a self-recovery and transmits the data file format in accordance with a data recovery request of the client through an Internet network(20).
