PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved and simplified scanning apparatus using an LED array as a light source, which can realize power conservation and cost reductions. SOLUTION: The scanning apparatus comprises a housing, a chassis, and the LED array. The housing includes a scanning flat bed for placing a document and the chassis is positioned in the housing for scanning the document placed on the flat bed. The chassis comprises the LED array, an RGB filter, a lens module, and a B/W CCD. The LED array provides light to generate an optical image and the filter is used for generating red, green, and blue images by filtering the optical image. In addition, the lens module forms the red, green, and blue images and the CCD converts the red, green, and blue images into red, green, and blue image signals, respectively.
