PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuel oil additive excellent in cleaning ability in the fuel system of an internal-combustion engine or a combustion chamber even in a server operation condition with frequent de- and acceleration. SOLUTION: This fuel oil additive contains an aliphatic alcohol-alkylene oxide addition compound (A) satisfying the following 1-3; 1 R1O-[(C2H4O)m/(AO) n]-(C2H4O)p-H, 2 the relative relation (2): Mw/Mn<=0.030×Ln (v)+1.010 (wherein v is a mean value of (m+n+p) and v<10) or (3) Mw/Mn<=-0.026×Ln (v)+1.139 (wherein v>=10) is satisfied, 3 the following Weibull's distribution constant c is <=1.0: c=(v+n0/n00-1)/[Ln(n00/n0)+n0/n00-1] (4).
