PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve output performance of an engine and exhaust gas characteristics and to reduce noise of a fuel injection device by preventing the phase of a fuel injection cam 4 from being easily deviated and preventing the fuel injection timing from being easily deviated. SOLUTION: In this fuel injection device for a diesel engine, a fuel injection cam shaft 1 is constituted of an outer cylinder 2 and a core shaft 3, the fuel injection cam 4 is provided on the outer cylinder 1, and a timer 5 is attached to the projecting end 3a of the core shaft 3. The timer 5 is provided with a linear actuator 6, a conical cam 7, a cam driven part 8, and large and small disc-shaped cams 13, 14, and a control means 15. The control means 15 controls output of the linear actuator 6 according to the fluctuation of the engine speed, and the phase difference angleαbetween the core shaft 3 and the outer cylinder 2 can be changed through the timer 5.
