PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and an image forming method capable of more accurately and also efficiently deciding the optimum value of a density control factor necessary for adjusting the image density of a toner image to target density. SOLUTION: Two different processing modes are previously prepared. In a first processing mode, 32 patch images are formed in total while changing the developing bias in a wide range, and the optimum developing bias is decided based on the image density of them. In the second processing mode, 16 patch images are formed in total while changing the developing bias in a narrow range including the last optimum developing bias, and the optimum developing bias is decided, based on the image density of them. Then, the most appropriate processing mode is selectively performed in accordance with the operating situation of the device, and then, the optimum developing bias is decided. |
