PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for automatically tightening the thread knot of a sewing end in a calendar after chain stitch by single thread. SOLUTION: The device is constituted by providing a thread pulling device 17 in the lower part of the running position of the calendar 1, which has a pair of endless belts 21A and 21B by which the sewing end thread 2a of the calendar 1 is caught and fed at speed being higher than that of the calendar, so that the sewing end thread knot 3 is automatically tightened by holding the sewing end thread 2a between the endless belts 21A and 21B and pulling it in the sewing start position direction of the calendar 1 when the calendar 1 passes through the upper part of the thread pulling device 17.
