PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized light output control device which provides a laser beam of the enough quantity of light for a monitor. SOLUTION: A light output control device 1 is provided between a laser beam source 2 and a collimating optical system 3, and the device 1 is provided with an optical path split element 17 for splitting an emitted laser beam L1 from the part 2 into an incident main laser beam L2 to the system 3 and a laser beam L3 for a monitor for detecting the quantity of light, a quantity-of- light detector 20 for detecting the quantity of an incident light of the laser beam for a monitor from the element 17, and a control part 23 for controlling the light output of the part 2 according to the quantity of light detected by the detector 20.
