PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a projecting quantity of a last gear outward in the radial direction of a permeable detection sensor mounted on a rotation detection disk on the same axis of the last gear in an ink jet recorder. SOLUTION: An ink jet recorder comprises a luminous part 18a which emits a light for detection to a slit forming position of a rotation detection disk 17, a light receiving part 18b which is arranged on the opposite side against the luminous part 18a putting the disk 17 there between and receives the detection light emitted from the luminous part 18a and a detection sensor 18 for detecting a rotating angle of the rotation detection disk 17 by recognizing the detection light at the time when the slit moves. The luminous part 18a is arranged between the last gear 16a and the rotation detection disk 17.
