PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto-focusing device capable of obtaining a high- accuracy image by realizing a high function and high performance at higher speed by combining two types of AF and performing composite operation, and surely performing photographing even in a scene for which a time lag is not desired. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a 1st AF means 3 performing the 1st AF that a focus lens in a photographing lens 1 is moved so that the AF evaluated value of the image signal of an imaging device 2 on which an object image is formed through the lens 1 may be maximal, and a 2nd AF means 4 performing the 2nd AF that a subject distance is detected by external light range-finding. A period when the 1st AF means 3 performs the operation and a period when the 2nd AF means 4 performs the operation are at least partially overlapped. Thus, the range finding-device excellent in handleability is realized, where the time lag is reduced by rapidly performing the driving of the focus lens based on the switched 2nd AF means 4 even when the 1st AF means 3 is switched to the 2nd AF means 4, because the 1st AF means 3 and the 2nd AF means 4 are simultaneously operated in parallel. |
