摘要 A polymeric composition comprises a vinyl chloride polymer, a plasticizer for the vinyl chloride polymer, and a polyurethane reaction product of at least one polyalkylene ether glycol and at least one organic diisocyanate, the polyurethane reaction product being in amount (by weight) up to that of the vinyl chloride polymer. The vinyl chloride component is a homopolymer of vinyl chloride, a copolymer of vinyl chloride containing a proportion (usually at least 85% by weight) of vinyl chloride with one other monomer, or a mixture of such homopolymers or copolymers or of one or more such homopolymers with one or more such copolymers. With the vinyl chloride there can be copolymerized vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile and maleic, fumaric and acrylic acid esters. The polyurethane can be formed by the reaction at 50 DEG to 120 DEG C. of the polyalkylene ether glycol with excess polyisocyanate and may be mixed with the vinyl chloride polymer directly or may first be chain-extended with, for example, water hydrazine, diamines, amino-alcohols, amino-acids, hydroxy-acids or glycols. Suitable polyurethanes are described in Specification 731,071. As plasticizers for the vinyl chloride polymers there can be used di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, dioctyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, di(butoxyethyl) phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, methoxyethyl acetyl ricinoleate, sebacic acid esters, epoxidized soya-bean oil, di(2-ethylhexyl) azelate, dodecyl adipate, diisoctyl adipate, butyl isodecyl adipate, isooctyl palmitate, octyl dodecyl phthalate, dodecyl phthalate isooctyl isodecyl phthalate and triethylene glycol dipelargonate. Other optional minor constituents are barium and cadmium salts of coconut oil acids, tetrasodium phosphate, tribarium orthophosphate, alkali metal monosulphides, oxides of lead, barium and cadmium, perborates of Group II metals, alkaline earth ricinoleates, and antimony, zinc, sodium and cadmium arsenates and arsenites; fillers, e.g. clays, talcs, calcium carbonate, aluminium silicate, barytes and titanium dioxide; and pigments, e.g. zinc oxide, antimony oxide, titanium dioxide, prussian blue and metal chromates. The compositions can be compounded on a Banbury mixer or rubber mill. Plastisols can be prepared by dispersing finely divided vinyl chloride polymer in a mixture of liquid plasticizer and unextended polyurethane. Solutions of the compositions in tetrahydrofuran, N,N-dimethylformamide, chloroform, methylene chloride, dioxane, methyl ethyl ketone, 1,1,2-trichloroethylene or mixtures of these can be cast or coated. In an example (1) a composition of a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, mixed barium and calcium salts of coconut oil acids, a complex mixture of organic borates, phosphites and epoxy compounds, calcium carbonate and pigment is prepared in a heavy duty mixture and calendered to a film. Other examples employing vinyl chloride homopolymer and polyurethanes which have been chain-extended with water and hydrazine are given. Uses: Book-binding, door and wall coverings for automobile, welting material, handbags, lamp shades and floor tiles.ALSO:Fabrics are impregnated with a composition comprising a vinyl chloride polymer, a plasticizer for the vinyl chloride polymer, and a polyurethane reaction product of at least one polyalkylene ether glycol and at least one organic diisocyanate, the polyurethane reaction product being present in amount (by weight) up to that of the vinyl chloride polymer. The vinyl chloride polymer can be a homopolymer, a copolymer of vinyl chloride with another monomer or a mixture of such homopolymers or copolymers or of one or more such homopolymers with one or more copolymers. As plasticizers there can be used di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, dioctyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, di(butoxyethyl) phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, methoxyethyl acetyl ricinoleate, sebacic acid esters, epoxidized soy bean oil, di(2-ethylhexyl) azelate, dodecyl adipate, diisoctyl adipate, butyl isodecyl phthalate, isooctyl palmitate, octyl dodecyl phthalate, iso-octyl isodecyl phthalate, and triethylene glycol dipelargonate.
