The invention relates to the use of pipes consisting of titanium zinc conforming to EN 988 and to a method for bending pipes with a diameter of between 50 and 200 mm and an initial thickness of between 0.65 and 1.2 mm that consist of titanium zinc conforming to EN 988. Said pipes are butt-welded, using a weld seam that runs parallel to the pipe axis and are used as an intermediate product for bending into pipe bends with a bending angle of between 30 and 90 DEG .
