PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear conveyance device capable of conveying easily an article at desired speed, and its control method. SOLUTION: A moving quantity characteristic showing correspondence between the moving quantity of the article M and a driving time of a trough 25 is obtained relative to each parameter of plural coefficients of dynamic frictionμ, and hereby the moving quantity of the article M relative to the driving time of the trough 25 by using the plural coefficients of dynamic frictionμas parameters is determined. Therefore, based thereon, the coefficient of dynamic frictionμbetween a desired trough 25 and the article M can be obtained easily from the moving quantity of the article M measured by driving the trough 25 actually as long as a prescribed time to convey the article M.
