PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter material good in filtering performance and capable of sufficiently securing passing water flow rate in filtration and to provide a cleaning device using the filter material. SOLUTION: The filter material has a through-hole 6 in which water passes from the front surface 3 to the rear surface 4 of a cylindrical body, and the filter material is provided with a filter element 2 constituted with a filter material body 1 for holding its shape in water supply and fibers formed on the surface of the filter material body 1. The cleaning device has a filter layer constituted with an aggregate of the filter material 10 in the flow passage of the used water.
