The invention provides a processor-based technique for the process of storing, managing and displaying by a ser photo image recorded on a plurality of CD's, applying a management software application to each of the plurality of CD's, storing each of the photo images in a reduced resolution form in the user's PC hard disk (18), applying the management software application for displaying a selected collection of the stored photo images in accordance to any given category(ies) (30), selecting any one of the displayed photo images and displaying a full-size representation of the selected photo image (32).
