PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify an apparatus constitution by reducing the number of parts of the printing apparatus which can selectively carry out a plurality of functions according to indications. SOLUTION: Depressing relatively shallow or depressing relatively deep to one key is set as one operation. The plurality of functions are related to states of the one operations or of a combination of the operations, so that each of functions is allotted in each of hierarchies of every one operation. A corresponding function is executed in accordance with the recognition of an operation state of the key. Selecting various functions can be supported by a smaller number of keys favorably in comparison with conventional apparatuses which have realized the selection of various functions by a plurality of keys.
