PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide disk reproduction technique by which silent time from a track jump due to a scratch etc., to a return is short. SOLUTION: The measuring time of an error time at a time when the track jump takes place is changed in accordance with the distance of the track jump by the actions of a deciding part 12 and a setting part 13 provided for the microcomputer controlling part 11 of a drive 2. Although the required time of return processing returning a pickup to the original position is in proportion to the distance of the track jump, when the distance of the track jump is long, long measuring time is insured to guarantee return processing at least one time. When distance is short, termination in the case the return processing is not accomplished is made early by shortening measuring time, and silent duration time until returning an error to a host side is minimized.
