PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator and a projector using the same capable of realizing miniaturization and holding light condensing efficiency and the uniformity of luminance. SOLUTION: This illuminator is provided with an integrator 113 having a 1st fly-eye lens 1131 dividing illuminating light into plural and radially laying out respective divided light source images on a position where all the periphery being 360 deg. is equally divided in the vicinity of the light incident surface of a 2nd fly-eye lens 1132, and the 2nd fly-eye lens 1132 preventing the plural divided light source images formed in the vicinity of the incident surface by the lens 1131 from being vignetted each other and making them incident on plural filter groups for extracting any of red(R), green(G), blue (B) and white(W) of a color separation filter 114, and the color separation filter 114 arranged in the vicinity of the light source images radially formed by the lens 1132 and color-separating all the light source images formed radially in a time-division manner. |
