PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge invaded foreign matter toward an outside together with oil without having a trouble for transmission of power even when a foreign matter pocket is not disposed, in a torque converter. SOLUTION: A pump extending part 35 for covering an outer periphery and a back surface of a turbine impeller 11 is provided aside on a pump impeller 10 so as to form a pump assembly 36, and a valve means 50 is disposed on an outer peripheral part of the pump assembly 36, which is formed in such a constitution that the inside of the pump assembly 36 is opened to the outside when rotating speed of the pump impeller 10 is not more than normal rotating speed, oil in the pump assembly 36 is made flow out together with foreign matter by centrifugal force, and outflow of oil is stopped when rotating speed of the pump impeller 10 exceeds the normal rotating speed.
