In a flat magnetic head coil constituted by spiral coil patterns made of a conductive material film and two terminals connected to the coil patterns, the coil patterns have a substantially rectangular sectional shape. A minimum pitch P Ä mu mÜ of the coil pattern, a width W Ä mu mÜ of the sectional shape at the minimum pitch P, and a height H Ä mu mÜ satisfy 15 Ä mu mÜ ≤ P ≤ 70 Ä mu mÜ and 1.85 - 0.012P ≤ H/W ≤ 7.5 - 0.06P. When an impedance ZO between the two terminals of the coil while a core made of a magnetic material is not attached is equivalently constituted by an inductance L0, an RF resistance Rp0 parallel to the inductance L0, and a DC resistance Rs which is series-connected to the inductance LO and is independent of a frequency, the inductance LO Ä mu HÜ at 10 MHz satisfies LO ≤ 0.85 Ä mu HÜ. <IMAGE>
