According to the present invention there is provided a method of digesting titanium containing material comprising the steps of providing the titanium containing material; and reacting the titanium containing material with sulphuric acid (H2SO4) at a furnace temperature above 340 DEG C to form titanium containing sulphate. The reaction product of said method may also be leached with water to separate titanium values from at least some other material.
