1284070 Making wire INSTITUT ELEKTROSVARKI IMENI E O PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAINSKOI SSR 2 Oct 1970 46928/70 Heading B3A A powder-filled wire is made by shaping a metal strip into a trough 6 by rolls 1, delivering powder from a hopper 8 on to a disc 9 which is rotated in synchronism with the rolls 1 via gears 11 and 12 so that the powder is fed to a fixed culter 10 which directs the powder into the trough 6, and rollers for shaping the trough into a tube and compacting the powder therein. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, a hopper 18 has a gate valve 19 and a conveyer 20, the latter being driven by an electric motor 23 and synchronized with an electric motor 21 by connecting their armatures in parallel, the motor 21 driving shaping and compacting rolls 13, 15 and 16.
