IMPACT DETECTION FOR DATA MEMORY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interchangeable data memory device which warrants the safe of stored data. SOLUTION: The data memory device has an impact detecting indicator arranged in its housing. The impact detecting indicator can provide a visually, acoustically and/or mechanically detectable display as to whether the data memory device is subjected to a physical impact exceeding a certain threshold or not. The mechanical detection of the impact state may be optically, mechanically or electrically achieved. A data memory drive warrants that the operation detrimental to the data memory device exposed to the physical impact is not executed by interfacing with the impact detector of the data memory device. The device has a detecting switch, by which the latent loss or destruction of the data is averted.
